Modern Day Thoreau is a blog I maintain that focuses on travel, hiking and photography in New England. I did a recent re-design from one of the stock themes to a custom "magazine" style theme that included a featured and headline section. This was a process that took a few months in testing and constant changes and which concluded in a very simple and approachable website. J.S.Wilcox Photography was a site I created for my personal photography in early 2009. I wanted something simple that showcased the pictures with minimal web design around it. I choose a dark blue to make the pictures pop off the page more, with a simple white text for great contrast. I have since changed my photography site which is the next example of my work below.
This was a template design I created to emphasize typography. THe color are simple with the red accent to emphasize the main points. Large header and large footer sandwich what would be a flash graphic the displayed the red text first before transitioning into the entire text.
